The maintenance yard is placed as a long volume along the rear border of the plot. With the regular grid and the slightly off-center elevation, it creates a typology that is based on industrial enterprises but also on agricultural buildings. All elements follow the rhythm of the large gates with round window eyes. The longitudinal facades are clad in colored stained wood. Inside, too, lightly painted wood dominates as wall material, while the skeleton of the supporting structure stands out in natural wood. Stepping out through one of the gates, a long filigree canopy made of galvanized steel accompanies the entire facade front. The grid of the canopy is covered with a translucent panel that provides a pleasant filtered light atmosphere. On the front sides there are prominent concrete walls with monolithic roofs. They have a bracing function and, as striking shapes, form the prelude and conclusion of the work yard.<\/p>\n

The roof is designed as a two-dimensional, delicate bar structure. It is built on a continuous, uniform grid of 4.10 meters, which also optimally integrates the requirements of the space program. The surface load of the roof is distributed over the spatial supporting structure towards the supports. Above the column axis, a double-girt girder marks the concentration of the loads, which are transferred from here to the vertical. Fine tension bands of round steel complement the bar structure and form it into a rigid box. The cross-sections of the framework have been chosen so that they can be realized in solid structural timber. In this way, the supporting structure gets by with virtually no parts containing glue, which has a very positive effect on the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n
