The Christoph Merian school is located in a neighborhood of listed modernist buildings grouped around the remarkable Gellert Church. Opposite to the curch the new building with the auditorium is set as a long narrow volume. On the east side, a long pergola accompanies and borders the large meadow. It integrates the school building as well as the Aula building into the overall structure. Two new stair towers provide access to the school. A new floor is added to the building and the whole roomstructure is reorganized.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The school building receives a new building shell. Prefabricated pilaster strips of lightweight concrete structure the fa\u00e7ade and outline the load-bearing structure of the building. The flat facades parts are prefabricated in brick. The contours are clearly limited by the structuring elements.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The new Aula building is placed as a simple volume between the school building and the singing hall. Its fa\u00e7ade materials reflect the materials of the school building. The filigree facade of concrete columns and infill brickwork rhythmizes the long sides and continues in the pergola.<\/p>\n
