The competition area is nestled in an open campus in the heart of Baar, a generous place of learning. The two Dorfmattschulh\u00e4user and the music school form a strong ensemble in the northeast. In the west, mighty plane trees border the campus towards Sternenweg. The three buildings of the school Sternmatt 1 represent the heart of the area as a composition typical of the time. The project is based on the continuation and strengthening of the local building complex: instead of the gymnasium, the SEB building now fits into the central triad. Together with the school building, a single-storey pavilion forms a protected garden around which the rooms for the youngest children are grouped. The large school building, parallel to the plane tree row, strengthens the western edge of the campus and emphasises the spatial relationship to St. Martin’s Church without competing with it. The three new buildings are each designed as simple linear bodies. They follow the urban planning principle of grouping clear individual bodies on the campus. The load-bearing structure of the houses is represented on the outside with wooden elements and gives the facades a rhythmic structure. The buildings stand on low concrete pedestals. These anchor the houses in their surroundings and also protect the wood from moisture. The facades are clad with wooden formwork, the cover battens form a vivid surface structure.<\/p>\n
